Soft Daily Disposable Lenses
Daily wear contact lenses should be removed every night before going to bed. They are later discarded and replaced with a new pair (at various intervals). Some daily wear lenses are discarded after 1, 2, 4, and 12 weeks. If these lenses are reused, they must be cleaned and disinfected before being worn again.
Soft contact lenses are made from a flexible water-absorbing plastic polymer that allows oxygen to pass through to nourish your eyes as you wear them. Soft contact lenses are VERY COMFORTABLE because they are flexible and they conform to the natural shape of your eye. As a result, soft daily wear contacts are the most popular form of contact lenses available today.

Cosmetics & Your Lenses top
The proper use of eye cosmetics is of great importance for successful contact lens wear. As you become accustomed to using make-up while wearing your lenses, you will find that certain types of make-up work best for you. IMPROPER USE OF EYE COSMETICS WILL DECREASE YOUR CONTACT LENS COMFORT AND LIFE SPAN. It is important to remember that not all cosmetics are created equal, not all contact lenses are equal and not all eyes have an equal tolerance. The following guidelines may decrease your trial and error and not all eyes have an equal tolerance. The following guidelines may decrease your trial and error approach to eye cosmetics and increase your chances for successful contact lenses wear.
CLEANLINESS CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH: Before applying cosmetics, begin with clean hands and lenses. Hands should be washed with soap that is fragrance-free and oil-free. Always insert contact lenses before applying make-up. Whatever cosmetics you choose to wear, be absolutely certain to remove every trace before going to sleep. Remember that repeated contamination of your eyes with cosmetic debris can cause serious problems. Never moisten cosmetics with saliva. If you wear eye make-up, be absolutely certain that your lenses are clean before disinfecting them.
HYPOALLERGENIC COSMETICS ARE RECOMMENDED: Hypoallergenic cosmetics contain a minimum, of those ingredients, such as perfumes and oils, which will trouble those with allergies and coat your lenses. Coated lenses will not wet properly and will become increasingly uncomfortable.
HAIR SPRAYS, PERFUMES, ETC Although these products are not used directly on or near the eye, it is recommended that they be used sparingly. If you use hair spray, spray with the eyes closed and walk out of room after using.
HAND CREAMS, MOISTURIZERS, ETC: The same ingredients that make your skin soft will produce an oily coating on your lenses. Wash your hands thoroughly to remove traces of creams or lotions before handling your lenses. Keep these products away from your lid margin at bedtime.
MASCARA: Avoid fiber-filled waterproof mascara. Water-soluble is recommended and it will never stain or penetrate soft contact lenses. Waterproof formulas require removal with oily eye makeup removers which may deposit oil on a lens. Replace mascara every two months since mascara commonly becomes contaminated with bacteria, which can start an eye infection. NEVER LEND OR BORROW MASCARA!
Sy nergEyes Contact Lenses top
SynergEyes contact lenses deliver the crisp vision of a rigid lens with the all-day comfort of a soft lens. SynergEyes combines two types of contact lens materials into one unique ‘hybrid’ lens. This specialty lens has a rigid gas permeable center and a soft hydrophilic skirt. The rigid center provides high oxygen transmissibility for healthy eyes and clear, sharp vision, even at night. And the soft skirt surrounding the center gives you the all-day comfort of a soft lens.
SynergEyes is also great for patients requiring a toric lens design to correct for astigmatism. SynergEyes is free from ‘toric lens rotation,’ a common problem associated with soft toric lenses that causes inconsistent vision. SynergEyes optics remain stable, delivering consistently clear vision.

SynergEyes eliminated the problem of irritating debris that can collect under conventional rigid lenses. And you won’t experience the annoyance of rigid lenses moving when you blink, or dislodging with your active lifestyle.
Recommended replacement interval is six months, however each person and their eyes may have a different wearing interval depending on what is prescribed by Dr. Cottone. It is important to replace your lenses at the time prescribed to prevent build up of protein and other deposits that cause discomfort, dryness, and less precise vision.
No matter what type of vision correction you currently use, there’s a SynergEyes lens that fits your needs. Whether you wear only glasses, or if you currently wear soft or rigid lenses, you may be a good candidate. There are also lenses available for patients with astigmatism, patients with keratoconus, and coming soon, lenses for patients requiring a multifocal. SynergEyes allows you to continue enjoying the comfort and wearability of a soft lens, while providing you with the crisp vision of a rigid lens.

Optifree Replenishtop A bout OPTI-FREE RepleniSH
OPTI-FREE RepleniSH contact solution retains moisture on the surface of your lenses, so they feel fresh and moist for enhanced comfort throughout the day.
When a contact lens is soaked in OPTI-FREE RepleniSH contact solution, the lens surface is reconditioned by a proprietary reconditioning system. This allows a thin layer of moisture from your natural tears to be maintained on the lens surface throughout the day.
OPTI-FREE RepleniSH incorporates new ingredients to a disinfection system that has been used for over 20 years. Alcon continues to develop new technology to care for the new types of contact lenses available. This focus has allowed OPTI-FREE RepleniSH to continue to achieve a high level of disinfection against both bacteria and fungi.
Contact Lens Care
Think all contact lens solutions are the same? Think again. Contact lens solutions are different. Proper lens care plays an important part in helping your eyes stay healthy.
There are variations in the composition and characteristics among contact lens solutions. These variations determine the solution that is best for you.
Not only should you avoid changing your contact lens solution prior to discussing it with your eye doctor, you shouldn't use another one from a friend or relative. Also keep in mind that other eye care products—like saline solution and rewetting drops—aren't designed to disinfect and recondition your lenses.
You should only use the contact lens solution that our office recommends. Switching solutions may not properly recondition or disinfect your lenses. By using proper hygiene and following the correct steps to clean, store, insert, and remove your contact lenses, you can help your lenses stay moist and comfortable. Proper lens care plays an important part in helping your eyes stay healthy.
Cleaning and Storing Your Contacts
To clean, recondition, disinfect and remove protein from your contact lenses:
- Thoroughly rinse each side of the lens (5 seconds) with OPTI-FREE RepleniSH.
- Fill your Alcon Lens Case with fresh OPTI-FREE RepleniSH solution. Store lenses in the closed lens case overnight or at least 6 hours. After soaking, lenses are ready to wear.
- After use, always empty and rinse the lens case with fresh OPTI-FREE RepleniSH and allow to air dry.
For optimal lens cleaning, reconditioning, and disinfection, fill the lens case with fresh solution every time lenses are stored. Never reuse solution. This will help ensure that you achieve maximum lens surface moisture for all day comfortable lens wear.
Recommendations for safe and healthy contact lens wear:
- Always wash and dry your hands before handling contact lenses.
- Carefully and regularly clean contact lenses with a contact lens cleaning solution as directed by your doctor. If recommended, rub the contact lenses with your fingers and rinse thoroughly before soaking lenses overnight in sufficient multi-purpose solution to completely cover the lens.
- Store lenses in the proper lens storage case and replace the case at a minimum of every three months. Clean the case with multi-purpose solution after each use, and keep it open and dry between cleanings.
- Use only products recommended by your optometrist to clean and disinfect your lenses. Saline solution and rewetting drops are not designed to disinfect lenses.
- Only fresh solution should be used to clean and store contact lenses. Never reuse old solution. Contact lens solution must be changed according to the manufacturer's recommendations, even if the lenses are not used daily.
- Always follow the recommended contact lens replacement schedule prescribed by your eye doctor.
- Remove contact lenses before swimming or entering a hot tub.
- See your eye doctor for your regularly scheduled contact lens and eye examination.
